Prefects Investiture Ceremony, 2026

The Investiture Ceremony at Welland Gouldsmith School,B.B.Ganguly Street is a celebration of leadership, responsibility and service. It was held on 15th July this year.

The badges and sashes were presented by Dr.Ms.G.R.Hart, Provost and CEO of Welland Gouldsmith Schools and Mr.J.C.Hart, President of Welland Gouldsmith Schools.

Nandini Bosmia (12 B) and Kritika Jaiswal (11 C) have been selected as the Head girl and Assistant Head girl. Rida Maleeha Ahmed (12 B) has been entrusted to serve as a Torch Bearer.

Annual Inter-House Debate Competition, 2026

The Annual Inter-House Debate Competition was held on 23rd July 2026, the motion being, “A Country’s Continued Development Depends on the Quality of Education It Provides.

Participants presented well-reasoned arguments with confidence and conviction, making the event both engaging and thought-provoking.

The debate was judged by Ms. D. Banerjee from Ling Liang School and Ms.M Roy from St.Paul's Mission School,Scots Lane,whose valuable feedback and fair evaluation were greatly appreciated.

The competition proved to be an enriching experience, inspiring students to think critically and articulate their views effectively.

Inter-House Bengali Elocution Competition, 2026

The Inter-House Bengali Elocution Competition of Welland Gouldsmith School, B.B. Ganguly Street, was held on 10th July 2026. The event showcased the students' eloquence, confidence, and appreciation for Bengali literature.

Verghese House emerged as the overall winner of the competition. Ashmita Mullick of Class 10C was adjudged the Best Elocutionist for her outstanding performance, while Samrita Dutta of Class 10B received the award for Best Dancer for her graceful and captivating presentation. The programme was a grand success and was appreciated by all present.

World Anglo Indian Day, 2026

Our school celebrated World Anglo-Indian Day on 4th August 2026. The occasion was a tribute to the rich heritage and invaluable contribution of the Anglo-Indian community to the nation. The program commenced with a prayer. Our Chief Guests for the day were Mr.and Mrs.(Dr.) Hartnett, Mr. Aniket Deb Roy, Principal of St. Thomas' Free School Street, Mrs. Jackson, former Headmistress of our school, and members of the Executive Committee. The teachers of the B.B. Ganguly Street branch and Patuli branch had put up separate programs, highlighting the Anglo-Indian community for the distinctive cuisine, unique language and expression, elegant style of dress, vibrant music and dances. The program left everyone inspired with a renewed sense of pride, gratitude towards the Anglo-Indian community, making the celebration a memorable one.

Fire and Safety Mock Drill, 2026

On 12th August 2026, a Fire Safety Mock Drill was conducted at Welland Gouldsmith School, Bowbazar Branch by Mr. Somen Ghoshal and Mr. Surajit Das, the leaders of the Fire Operating Services, along with their team.

The team demonstrated the correct usage and importance of fire extinguishers and explained the different types of emergencies. Students were also taught the proper evacuation procedures to follow during an emergency. The mock drill helped them to understand how to remain calm, act responsibly, and ensure their own safety as well as the safety of others in the event of a fire.

The session was highly informative and created greater awareness among the students about fire safety and emergency preparedness.

INDEPENDENCE DAY, 2026

Welland Gouldsmith School, Bowbazar, celebrated India's 80th Independence Day on 14th August 2026 with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour.

The theme of the programme was “From Indigo Fields to the Moon.”

It was a beautiful and thought-provoking presentation that traced India’s remarkable journey from the struggles of the freedom movement to the achievements of a modern and progressive nation.

TEACHERS’ DAY, 2026

Teachers’ Day 2026 was a joyful celebration of appreciation and gratitude.

A vibrant and heartfelt programme was presented by our students, featuring a wonderful blend of performances that expressed their love and respect for their teachers.

The celebration concluded with words of gratitude and warm wishes for all the teachers, making the occasion truly memorable.

EDUCATIONAL EXCURSION TO THE PARLE FACTORY

On 11th September 2026, the ISC Commerce and Arts students of Welland Gouldsmith School, Bow Bazar, visited the Parle Factory at Salasar Industries, Sankrail Industrial Park, Dhulagiri, West Bengal.

The visit provided the students with valuable practical exposure to the processes of production, packaging, storage, and distribution in an industrial unit. It was an informative, educational, and enjoyable experience, helping the students connect their theoretical knowledge with practical applications.

The excursion offered the students a meaningful learning experience and a glimpse into the functioning of a large-scale industrial establishment.

EDUCATIONAL TRIP TO SCIENCE CITY

On 11th September the science students of Classes 10-12 went on an educational trip to Science City.

They experienced an interactive session on science life that exhibited prehistoric life, human evolution, genetics, structural engineering, real-time atmosphere, planetary, oceans, along with a 3D journey through the Great Wall of China and optical illusion experiments.

The trip was a great way to connect what students learnt in the classroom to real life for everyone.

ANNUAL ELOCUTION COMPETITION, 2026

The Annual Elocution Competition was held on 18th September 2026 with great enthusiasm and excitement.

The programme began with the students of Class 3 participating in the Elocution Category. This was followed by the Choral Recitation presented by the students of Classes 4 and 5.

The students of Classes 6 to 8 then presented their pieces in the Elocution Category.

The programme concluded with the Dialogue Delivery category in which students from Classes 9 to 12 demonstrated a remarkably high standard of performance.

The judges for the day were Mrs.S. Seal, Principal of Loreto Day School, Dharamtala and Mr.B. Gomes, veteran educationist with nearly three and a half decades of dedicated service in the field of education.

Their valuable observations and encouragement added to the significance of the event.

The School Choir performed a beautiful song composed by Alveera Mustafa of Class 12 B

The competition was an enriching event, celebrating the students’ talent, creativity and ability to communicate with confidence.

JUNIOR SCHOOL ELOCUTION CONTEST, 2026

The Junior School Elocution Contest was held on 16th September 2026 with great enthusiasm and excitement.

Mrs. L. Jackson and Mr. H. Hart were the esteemed judges for the day. The programme began with a lively welcome dance presented by the children of Class 2.

Students from Lower Nursery to Class 2 participated in the elocution contest, showcasing their confidence, expression and speaking skills.

The students of Classes 1 and 2 also presented a delightful choral recitation.

The programme concluded with a beautiful rendition of Thank You, Lord.

The competition was a memorable and enriching experience, providing our young learners with a wonderful opportunity to develop confidence and the art of effective expression.

JUNIOR SCHOOL DISCIPLINE SQUAD INVESTITURE CEREMONY, 2026

The Junior School Discipline Squad Investiture Ceremony was held on 24 th August 2026.

The students were presented with their badges symbolising their commitment to maintaining discipline, responsibility and good conduct in school.

It also inspired the entire Junior School to understand the importance of discipline in creating a positive and harmonious school environment.

The Prize distribution for the Art Competition was also held to celebrate the creativity and talent of the participating students.
